Fishin' with Holly's Crew

Mike and I thought it would be a good idea to take the grandkids fishing...

Davis and Al went along as our support system...

The last time the kids went... they didn't want to touch the fish...

This time we couldn't keep them away... Of course we got a new net (that was the big bonus for the day).  Sharing isn't a concept Adylin or Matthew have a true understanding of...

Superman and Capt. America??? Together on a fishing trip... Cool....

I took a bag of kid friendly toys, a blanket, and shade tent...  We weren't out long enough to even use the shade tent... Better left for more than 3 1/2 hours to get our limit.

Pure contentment root beer and cheeto's... YUM

Yes Matt, this is a big one... Job well done!!!

The net...Quick, get the net... Where is the net, Ady???  Hm...

We used a pretty good amount of tackle and floating bait...  We crossed lines more than once... And had more than my share of poor casts... The wind only blows when I go out with the guys.  So that means casting is more difficult.

I look very macho... but the sun kills the eyes and t's are my fav...

Reel it in, Ady... I've got the net... keep the tip up... keep reeling... nice and steady... That a way!!!  Good Job!!!

This is about 14... We ended up using almost every stringer the 3 tackle boxes had, plus the new one we just bought... (the white rope tied to the rock)

We caught 28 fish (4 each) and limited out before it got to hot.  The treats went over well, chips and ham sandwiches and some candy with pop... all before 11 a.m.  the kids thought they had gone to heaven.

Cleaning the fish is another problem...  Did you know if you push on the fish it poops??  Well it does, unless it's a girl with eggs and then it poops out eggs... But our fish only had poop!!!  OH MY!!!  Now if you hand the cleaner one fish at a time he can clean them...

Tanner is learning how to gut them... Notice what an 8 1/2 yr old does with fish guts...

We took along the practice pole and only Al and Poppie got hit by children practicing their casting.  They cried but I would have cried louder, so they gave up and got down to business of manning their poles...

We have our own fish whisperer... Al... he catches and helps and just does it all...

Remember it's not 10:30 a.m. yet!!!

It will be summer soon... I think??

Good Morning !!

I have been up for hours.  I woke up before 4 a.m. and tried for a good 1/2 hour to go back to sleep...  I am so tired, but the brain and body just can't seem to work together.

I started a load of laundry... Brought in a loaf of bread from the freezer... turned on the radio... got on the internet and I keep getting bumped off... Al and John told me we are having solar flares and that is affecting things... OK... I'll go with that...
Someday those flares will stop and I will sleep and my internet will work again...

HaHaHa...  How do I tell my body to just let it go, no worries, life is good... etc

It's 39 * f. outside and I'm freezing... the sun has come up, but no warmth in it yet...

FISHING WITH KIDS

Fishing with kids ain't no picnic... But they sure have fun... Yes, Miss Bossy Pants... ???

Davis, his 3 and John and Al have gone fishin' .... I worry that I should have gone just to keep the little ones warm... but that is a worry I will not take on for today.

This is what children look like when you get them up at 5:30 a.m. to go fishing...

Setting up is hard work... !!   Good Job Tanner!!!

Vernon reservoir near Tooele...

There was frost on the rooftops this morning when the sun came up.. It was cold, but off to get the dinner...

Matt caught the first fish...

He is trying to be happy but the sunshine is in the way!!!  I am grateful for the sunshine.

Adylin caught the second one... a lovely brown trout was the biggest!!  She was adamant she was not going to get her picture taken with a FISH!!!  She can catch them, but not touch them!!!

Davis and Tanner were great fishermen...

Note if you hold the fish with the nose pointing forward one can't see the whole fish... only the nose...

Is this a fisherman in the making... checking out the tackle box... hm... ???  When you are 4 years old the strangest things draw your attention.... oops I forgot to add a boy to that mixture!!!!  Oh this kid is really funny...

My sis, Pat is still sunning in Florida... Must fly back on Saturday to the wonderful world of Sacramento... I'm sure she has missed her cats... and her friends... and her work... and of course me... she has been so busy with Anson and his 3 kids that she has almost forgotten those things she has left behind... I think she said she has a tan... Like rub it in!!!

Happy Father's Day !!!!

We went to Vernon Reservoir for a day trip...

Mike and I got new poles.  I even got a fishing license for the first time in over 20 years.  My first one in Utah.

I got envious of the tent trailers and campers and 4 wheelers.  Slap my hand!!!

HALLOWEEN 2009

I have given up waiting for others to send me pix's so... instead I will just blog on and finish up this thought...

Things are pretty busy and right now people are just trying to keep a job going or their heads above water in this economy.  All is forgiven not getting me the things I asked for... In the circle of life, a photo of my grandchildren in their Halloween costumes is pretty low on the totem pole of  the 'to do' list.  So here ya go...

October 2009....

To start off...I miss my brother, Mark.  This is the first halloween since he was 5 that he didn't pass out candy at the door.  He did it for the past 7 years at our door.  It was very different for me.  Sad... but it's ok.  He is just missed during certain times more than others, and this was one of those times.

This is what he looked like last Halloween... A scary clown (aren't most clowns scary)  He loved to scare you... But if you knew Mark... how could you be scared of him... He was just a strong gentle man...

Now on to this year... I asked all the mom's to send me photos of the grandkids to me.  I am still waiting.

I have to ask Em to download her's they are copyright and Alexis and Seth's might be on a slow boat to China.. we will see.

Having fun and it's not SuMmEr yet!!!

Our first graduation of 2010...
Adylin moving up to Kindergarten.
PreSchool is done and she was so excited.

Mrs. Warner's last year teaching...
She will be missed by all.

This girl whistles all the time...
A good way to annoy her mom...
and it works too LOL.

The next fun thing we did on Memorial Day was go to the zoo...

Dawn, Brittany, Alexis, Seth, Belle and myself met up with Mike's mom and step sister..
This is a very warm 'mom to be' at the zoo...taking a small break.  Britt is due in Sept... So cute too

It was a lovely day...

Good eye Seth... great idea for a shot...

Through the glass I was only about 3 feet away from this face... OH MY!!

Of course I had to get a pix of this one just for Rachael... =)

You can't see the bone this leopard was eating.

I was in a really bad place to get a good one of Belle on the carousel.. of course she chose and ride on the inside too... kids!!

Don't ask how we got her in the egg...
(ask her)

The ducks were swimming by the playground.  This one thought it was hiding... Peek-a-boo... I see you!!!

Belle sticking her head into the mouth of a crocodile.
She is afraid of some things and not of others... This did nothing to phase her...

Climbing on the enormous spiderweb was more difficult than you would think... It took her a few minutes to figure this out...

Soon it was "Look Mom, no hands"...

We took a picnic lunch and enjoyed ourselves to exhaustion.

At that point I took Seth home with me and Lex and Belle went home with their mom.

Mike's mom had to leave before lunch, but was able to enjoy most of the zoo with the group...

We made it into June and had another graduation...
Rachael Davis is now finished with High School...

Moving onto college in the fall and can almost call herself an adult.. Boo Hoo...
I guess they do grow up...

Good Luck and Enjoy!!!

The next big thing we got to celebrate was Mike's 61st birthday... On Sunday, June 6th...
We made homemade spaghetti sauce served over noodles with nice garlic bread and a beautiful salad...
It was YUMMY!!!

We had eclairs, creme puffs and mini cheese cakes for dessert... Bennett took the 'cake'  really!!  All at once in his mouth... as much as he could shove in that is...

Did you know you can eat corn on the cob without getting any corn!!!  Well the fail proof way is to chomp chomp chomp... but stop when you get a kernal... and put it gingerly onto the plate... and conitnue to chomp away at the cob... Isn't that why it's called... "on the cob"... And please do not take it away or I will take you down... for reals...

We did get Seth's hair cut while he was here... then he promptly dyed it ... what a goof ball... gotta love him...

We are all caught up with summer fun... I did forget about kung fu through the sprinklers... riding bikes at the park... eating ice cream all day long at Gramma's... and a few other unmentionables...
