HARVEST TIME

Our garden was really fun this summer...

We have 3 boxes 6X2 and 4 tires(from my hyunda)...
Stay with me here for a minute...

The tires became my hills and the boxes were for other things.
Holly asked me what I wanted for Mother's Day and
I said plants for my garden. So we started in May with
cucumbers, zuccini and crook neck squash, pumpkins,
one cherry tomato and an early girl and a beefsteak tomato...

We lost the first cukes and squash we planted... not enough water
in the tires and we also got hail and snow May 31...
I covered the tomatoes and they did well...

Mike and I went and got bush bean seeds and red potato
seeds plus a bell pepper and another pepper plant for salsa.
The garden has been fun...

Ady and Matthew helped dig potatoes... the cute red ones
that are very small. The beans went over very well with all...
we ate bean for 3 months (I only had 3 short rows about
2 1/2 feet long and 2 feet wide. Mike and I put a drip
system in 2 of the boxes, but our weather is to hot and dry
for this...so we will swap the drip out for a strip head
(narrow and long). The tires were first year soil and
ammendments... so they were not so very furtile...
I bought a lovely bale of straw to use as a mulch cover that
worked very well. What straw is left will be tilled into the
soil to compost over the winter along with a few bags of manure.

Tanner and Seth were helpful moving the drip hose from tire to tire.
All in all the garden did well... Wished that I had the money
for my white picket fence...hehe and my arched garden gate
and solar lighting... but wishes are just that...

CHERRY PICKERS OF 2008

The cherry tree is ripe and ready to pick.

Matt decided he was a good climber. He is climbing the fruit ladder. A fruit ladder is different than a regular ladder. It only has one leg on the other side. So it's not the same climbing. He made us nervous... He's only 2 =)

Ady is not the most confident high up anything. I don't want to label her afraid of heights, but she is very close to qualifying for that one... She didn't give up or stop trying...but she wasn't very secure climbing high in the tree.

My sister, Pat and brother in law, Phil Pryde, came in from Sacramento, CA for the 4th of July weekend. He thought she was a very good model for his photo shoot in our backyard... He really got some good pictures too.



















Matt wasn't to thrilled having to stop picking
cherries to smile for the stranger behind the camera...









They must have picked a good 10 pounds of sweet ripe cherries...



Did they have surprises in their diapers, Holly?


I am sure, most of the fruit didn't make it in the bowl...









Adylin on the other hand is a "ham"... and would stop just longer enough to say "cheese" then go back to picking.

They loved helping and eating and climbing... Stopping when gramma was done wasn't what they had in mind.
But I took the ladder down and only Tanner could climb the tree.

I was replacing sprinkler heads with Mike in the yard and wasn't dressed for pictures...
I was not built for a hat either...
Oh well...

Ady got "AIR"...

I have had Holly's kids at my house alot lately...
due to the move, the flu, and a few days in Seattle with Davis.
I have a few fun pix ... I will add them at a later date.

Ady loves to jump on the trampoline.
She works hard to get height...
look at me gramma, I jump high :)

She is really frightened of going high...

but she tries anyway...

and is so excited when she succeeds.

Matthew's main thing right now is the kitty... he called the other night and wanted to talk to the kitty on the pone... phone. Next time he does that I think I'll meow for him hehe :)

He is out searching for the Kitty in her hiding place in the back yard...behind the shed:)

Tanner is getting sooooooo old... He is using a saw. We had a hoe that the handle broke on. And I decided that the hoe was good, so I decided I would cut the handle off to make a short hoe... Well, it turned into a family affair. Everyone took a turn with the saw...yes, it was sharp, but I was right there except when I was snapping pictures...

The weather has been so cold that it's hard to plan outside stuff. We just get out there and do it when we can. Note the hats and coats and the red noses...and runny noses :)

I am off to work on the barn and garage this next few weeks... John and Abi have almost got their stuff arranged and moved around. So now it's my turn to mess up the garage and fill up the garbage :) Anyone want to help...come on over !!!

FYI: Lex and Seth leave June 7th for AZ for 6 weeks...they will have their cell phone and we may keep the text messaging until they return...

My favorite Bug is a Praying Mantis... I grow them in our backyard.



My favorite flavor of ice cream is Pralines and Cream...caramel without the chocolate.



My favorite color to wear is RED... and I look good in red :)



My favorite sport is volleyball, to play... to watch is soccer, to view on t.v. either football or golf... easy to sleep to :)

EASTER 2008 AT GRAMMA'S

Quick Update

Easter at Gramma's

Lexis brought some friends with her...

it was fun... crazy, but fun...
Yes, they were driving me crazy...
or just driving...
They will never use my cars or vans or autos!!!







Then they got dumped out of the egg hunt...not enough eggs for all :)

(if looks could kill, someone would be dead right now by the look on Lexie's face)

Tons of food and candy running around for all to eat and fill the sweet tooth.

she did great, got all the money and

her share of the big treats...

even a toy car or 2 .

Mike, Dawn, Alexis, Seth and Isabelle came.

It was very cold and windy. Not sure we have enough layers on to keep out the cold.

can you tell Han was cold... nah... she just wanted to wear that "thing" around her and Rachael and her friend, John... Ady's John !!!

Alfie had a few hours off of work to come and eat dinner with us.

My friend, Kim... came too.

She was a great help counting eggs (we always loose count!!) and running after some of our little piglets... Thanks for coming Kim :)
