I am Thankful...

We signed on Friday at 6 p.m...

We get keys on Tuesday, do not have a time... Have cleaning to do... Any help would be appreciated... Like that is open for negotiations... people are just free to drop in and clean, clean, clean.... YUP!!!

And will move our bed over on Wednesday...

So... that is our update!... It has been a bumpy ride.

We found out the mortgage company is in New Jersey... the hurricane and blizzard took their share out of that state... which might explain a bit of the slowness in this paperwork and process.

We are just thankful to be on this end of the paperwork... and grateful to have a home to move to.

It's been a very long ride... with many stops along the way... but with the Lords help, we are finally making it.

Woot Woot!!!

I know where my roasting pan is!!  We bought the ham we are cooking for the family dinner on Thursday... So that part is good...  Al is driving down on Wednesday and will be driving home on Sunday.  He will be around to help with this move too... Yeah!!!  The more hands the merrier...

Looking forward to getting together for the annual broom hockey game on Thursday... I feel good enough to get out there this year after losing a few pounds... soooooo  maybe I'll play, who knows... Warren and I would make a great team!!!  hehehehe

OK... off the hook...

Everyone is off the hook Saturday...

Including me....  I guess I am going to bake cakes at my friends instead of clean a house... without a key it's impossible to clean and put in dog doors.

We are just waiting ... our middle name and here we thought the wait was done... and we were finally making the move...

SURPRISE...

well they (still not sure who they are) say Tuesday... so we will see... hahaha... I did pack 4 more boxes... so one day I may get packed up and ready to move, and then again... maybe not.

I am going to bake boiled raisin cakes with Margaret out in Eagle Mtn cuz I'm so tired of waiting to get moved to bake my cakes and put them in a freezer that might one day be moved to a new spot... hehehehe

sigh...

I'm trying to stay upbeat, but this is really taking a beating out of both Mike and I....

It's a good thing we have faith...

Hugs to all

HOUSE ! IT'S A GO..............

We finally got a date.

Hurrah.... November 9, 2012....

I'm pretty excited... considering it was supposed to be my birthday... Not to far off.  But if I were having a baby... no way would I wait that long to have it.  So......

Here we go.  As of right now... I will be having a cleaning party on Saturday around noon to make sure all the cabinets and drawers and bathrooms etc. are clean... Mike will be working on the dog run unless we are in the middle of a snowstorm... but we have 2 dog doors to put in that day also.

I'm thinking of windows and cleaning of rooms etc... so that on Monday I get the carpets done... I am hoping to get some of the bushes and trees trimmed before WINTER hits... they are very overgrown... (hint hint Kristy tell Zach & Louise tell Jason).
(the front door/front porch)
If I can get the basics done on Saturday or over the next few days after we get the keys, then Mike and I can slowly start to move items in.  I figure we will get the major move started Friday and finish up on Saturday.

John and Es are going to stay at the house in Springville for the next month or two, we talked to the property management people, hoping that when BYU changes out again, they can find something closer to their work towards the end of Dec the the first of Jan... This helps us some by us by not having to have everything out before the end of November.  But I would like to have everything out as soon as possible.

Here is the address: 2737 E. 1470 S. Spanish Fork, UT 84660.  It's off Hwy 6, Take the light at Canyon St to the right (it only goes right) and you will be turning left onto 2600 East (it has the blue house on the corner that looks like a doll house).  Stay on this street and as it turns to the left it's on the left with the street light in the yard... If you come to the end of the street... you've gone to far... :)

If you can come and help... come on over... If you can't... We still love you... I'm sure Mike could always use some help with the fencing and dog doors... Bring your energy and enthusiasm... I'm excited... and exhausted...

corn on the cob

This is the first Ear of Corn that Kabrie can remember eating...
With teeth... even tho she only has top teeth and is really only juicing it,  she is loving the corn and the cob.  She chawed on this cob for a good half hour.  Of course when she was done, she cleared her plate to the floor by swiping everything back and forth off of the tray... TaDa... the tray is clean...

The floor looks like a tornado with food tossed all over.  We wish Rusty was a better sweeper, but he is picky... so we have to sweep instead.  Which doesn't always happen until after due to running after a 16 month old kiddo.

Kiana informed me that corn was her favorite food.  Then she ate a bunch of chips... so go figure... She loves junk food the best.  hehe

Most kids love corn on the cob... Yum. Yum.
We love our cob holders, "Bed, Bath and Beyond" have the best, they fit together and are lovely and large and go in the dishwasher and last for a long, long time.  Yeah!!!

Summer is a coming.... Outside and gardens and play and pools... so we will see what summer brings...

Playing At Holly's

We got to play at Holly's starting on Tuesday, April, 24th until April 29th, while Holly and Davis were gone to Orlando, Fl.  It was some work and some play for them.

It was mostly work and some play for me...

Haha...

Mike came and helped out on Thursday, but 5 kiddo's no matter how you spell it is work... Ask any mother!!!

The trick is to find some fun no matter how much work is involved... I didn't learn that trick when my kids were young.  I didn't do to poorly with my grandkids, but I still am not great at it... sigh... guess it's just hard for me...

Holly did great setting it all up for me tho... She had someone come in and clean the house on Tuesday... Wonderful!!!  The laundry was caught up!!! Hurrah!!!  The meals were set up and ready to go... Hurrah!!!  It was like a calendar... went like clockwork...

Bennett wet his bed every night the little pill... he is going thru a 'faze'... He earned $2 for doing his p... on the potty... but couldn't concentrate on the pee pee part too... stinker!!!

The weather poured rain one night... and the kids left their shoes out that night... the one night I didn't get their shoes in!!!  sigh

I didn't panic... they each have more than one pair of shoes, but Bennett couldn't find his match... I got out and dug out his boots and he was in heaven!!! Loves his winter boots...

Warren had so much fun playing in the sandbox full of sand and water!!  The bath afterwards was also a lot of fun too...

I didn't get one picture.

I was busy chasing one in one door and one out the other door.  Good thing there was only 3 doors... I only lost Bennett once and Warren once!!!  I felt pretty good for that...

SIGH...  and they were only lost for a few minutes at that... and found in the house or yard... and safe at that too.

All and all... we had nothing broken on the kids or the house... except a picture frame that I will gladly replace... We attended a church carnival dinner that was fun and we ate cotton candy and played games too...

I have to thank Mike for his help... he even cleaned up the kitchen one day while I put the rest of the house together so the parents didn't come home to a place that was totaled... Ya know ... grandma's and grandpa's don't enforce the chores as well as the parents do...

We did do scriptures and prayers and homework...

I would do it again... it was a fun bonding time with the grandkids... they need it and we need it...

We love our
grandkids
you know...

April Showers Bring May Flowers...

Monday was a long day....

After a very nice Easter Sunday... with family...

We had dinner with Louise and John and all... the kids had an Egg Hunt and in some of the eggs was "Bunny Bucks"... used to spend at the Easter Store... They really had a great time hunting for eggs and finding the bucks and shopping at the store.  Once again the store owners over bought... hehehe and we had to many items and to much candy, chocolate.  Can you believe it???

The food was fantastic...  The company was great... The birthday wishes for Louise... cuter than cute.

Today is Thursday...

We have had some rain, to wash away the dirt on our week.  The bad stuff in the air, and in our minds... To give us something clean to breathe and think about.  Our lawns and flowers got a spring shower... after breaking a high record of 76 degrees by hitting 84.... YUCK!!!

So many of my plant starts have died due to the heat... You get a greenhouse to keep things warm and they die cuz the heat kills them... WOW... hahaha  Oh well it's a start and I'm learning... slowly and it's all new to me to...

No smiles... still frowns... but working on it...  I did laugh out loud at something and it felt good... but overall still sad inside.

I know the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true.  I know that Alexis is in a wonderful place.  She is happy and trying to make things right for her and her family.

We had a great few days with Seth... He is trying hard to put things together also.  Earth life isn't easy you know and we all get to work hard at keeping the good

Conference Weekend...

182nd General Conference

This is one of my favorite weekends in during the year.  It's one we plan on staying in and watching t.v all day long.  Not doing chores all Saturday.  I try to plan on easy things like folding laundry, or going through boxes and organizing paperwork.  Something that takes little or no thinking.  That way I leave my brain open to hear and take in the words being spoken by those assigned to speak to us.

I will make sure I have all the sessions on tevo so we can listen to them more than once over the next few weeks.  If I get called away, I won't feel that I get left out or short changed from any messages.  I do plan on planting carrots and peas tomorrow during breaks.  I even have a pair of jeans set aside just for the 'garden'... the holey ones... that are ok to get dirty.

We did our shopping on Thursday so we would have it done prior to Saturday.  We also got the items needed to get our bedroom and office back in shape before Monday.  I moved our bedroom around.  It was cramping my style and I needed a change.  I moved the bed under the window... can't have it there for the winter.  But summer it will rock.

I will update any goodies from Conference that 'click'.

Keeping things moving forward.

Gardens??

No sooner do I get the grow box in and the ground ready to go and it's Utah.  Cold and overcast... Greenhouse or not, it's cold.  I have the squash and cucumbers started and they are cold and slow.

I'm pretty sure that it takes sunshine and warmth to make things grow.  I have been watering the starts and checking on them for 5 days and still nothing.  SIGH!!!

So... I am hoping and praying that we get a few days of sun to go along with our 50-60 plus degrees of weather, or I will have to bring all the starts in the house where we are 70 and no sunshine.

It is what it is I know, but it would help just to see the seed breaking through the soil line.  That way I would feel like I'm doing ok.  I want to plant the peas and carrots in the soil, but that is hard to do until I see the starts in the peat pots coming up just a tad.

Patience isn't my strength.  Gardens whether they be vegetables or flowers require some patience, and mine are pretty thin at this point in time.  Sigh... As I take a deep breath... and roll my shoulders, stretch my legs and arms and give it another day...

Will keep updating when I have more info or a pix or two to show improvements to the garden.

Right now... I get to play the waiting game.

Spring... Spring... Spring...

If I keep repeating this mantra it might make it so.  I am just in need of some real sunshine and warmth.  Utah is so good at going from winter to summer and back to winter again.  Yes, we have spring and fall... but don't have a nap or blink, because you will miss it.

I sound like a broken record... and a little down in the dumps, Spring does that to me some days.  I would love to wave my magic wand and have my house cleaned and painted fresh and new linens... Ready for Easter and all new and clean and pretty... oops... I just woke up and there is no magic wand.   So I'd better get back to cleaning my bedroom.

John helped me move the bed.  Es helped me move a few other things.  And I did the rest.  Right now the bed is piled high as well as the office next door with 'things'... I haven't even started the "cleaning" part or the dusting part.  YIKES!!!

I will update when I'm done....

Spring??? Garden???

I am never sure about the weather in this state... this past week it's been in the high 50's...   I'm ready to plant my garden.  The funny part about this we are so far away from the actual date of spring that to do anything would be killer.

So... This is what I'm going to do... Start things indoors.  Most plants take a minimum of 50 days from seeds...

Making a list of wants:  Tomato, sliced and roma, bell peppers, bush beans, cucumbers, crook necked squash and zucchini squash, maybe a cherry tomato too... I'm thinking maybe a little butter lettuce or spinach... I only have 1 grow box that is 4 x 8 but I can put some pots inside of the green house that we bought at Sam's Club.

The beans are best sown directly into the ground... I'm thinking some carrots, too. Soooooooo  What do I need to do to start these things in the 'green house'???   What ya think??  Any ideas on the subject? Or hints?  Or energy?  hahaha

It is 2012 and Life Goes On... and On... and On...

I am sitting here, cooking and folding laundry, waiting for Kabrie to wake up.  My VT's are due in 20 minutes and so I thought I'd take time to start this New Year Post.

The winter has been cold and brown... Sunday we got a thin blanket of snow, would like more, and the weatherman said it's coming, but not today.

If this post seems scattered, then think of what is twirling around and around inside my head.  I am trying to make sense of it, and doing poorly.  The idea is to put things into words to help me make lemonade out of the bowl of lemons sitting on my table.  So... here goes...

Headaches, babies, puke, poop, barking dogs, dirty clothes, rotten carrots, Piglet is cold, To many dirty dishes, cooking, more dirty dishes, piles of papers with some to file and some to shred, junk, to much clutter, to many treasures, piles of kitchen tools, no place to put them, tired, can't sleep, shoulders tense, hips cramping, digital mammogram, pain in my boobies,  pain in my lower back, pain in my feet, knees, hips, Just painful,

Susie's wedding, getting Bennett, having had Tanner, Adylin, Matthew... Having one on one with each of them is great.  I've enjoyed time with each... Mike has done something special with each one.  What to do with Bennett?  Hm...The Dollar Store and treats was what we chose and nuggets at McDonald's for breakfast, lunch and dinner... His favorite is either candy or chocolate... so we tried to jump a bit of nuggies into his tummy too...

I'm overwhelmed and my insides are bubbling over like a pot of potatoes... I can't seem to remember much unless I write it down.  I print bills and then put them in a pile and not in the bill box.  Someone is always needing something from me and I can't seem to get the energy to do anything.

I feel like I fail at most things.  My follow through is very poor.  I kind of just want to hide and do nothing.  I know that isn't good, but not sure I want it any different right now.  It's like I'm still in mourning for my baby Alexis.... My mind is always on her no matter what else I'm thinking about.  OK... so I think I finally put my finger on it...

It takes me awhile to work through the garbage inside me.

Now that I've put my finger on it.  What am I suppose to do with that?  Hm?

If I talk to Mike he will try to to cover for me... But this to to big for a band aid... or a cast or surgery...So.... do I just keep moving forward and trying to put the crap into the slots they belong in... Not sure... Not sure at all...

All this was rolling inside me, not realizing it's Lexi's 17th birthday.  Putting it into words helped a bit, but I still miss her face and her hugs and Just Her.

Mike and I went up to Ogden on Thursday, January 26th and took Seth out to lunch.  He is so sweet.  I miss him too. Living so far away makes weekly jaunts a no go... Monthly we shoot for, but are not always successful getting up to North Ogden.

I can tell most of my 'frantic' conversation to myself is out of me and into words.

No way I would be even OK without family and friends to be supportive and kind.  I am grateful for a Loving Heavenly Father who has blessed me with family and friends to be a part of my support system.  Without HIM... I would have nothing, I would be nothing, I would hear nothing or see nothing, or touch nothing. or smell nothing... No birds, no trees, no flowers, no brown skies or blue skies... no family, no friends, nothing....

Trials and Hardships are a part of our daily lives... So, let's try to make the best of it and move forward, with Hope in our Hearts and Faith that Heavenly Father knows us and knows what we need if we allow HIM to direct us and guide us...

Looking forward to February... another day, month in the life of Mike and Connie and their crew.

To be full of Thanks and try to be Giving to others

This year I have been trying to figure out what I am thankful for.  My list was long.

Mike has a job, We have a roof over our heads, food in our fridge, money in the bank, Both autos are in working order, we are healthy (old does not qualify), we love our children and grandchildren and are grateful for their love and support.

We are learning to be grateful for our challenges and quests in life.  We are grateful that we are still learning.

We are thankful for the scriptures, grateful we know how to read,  We are grateful for our new ward, Kolob 6th Ward in Kolob Stake, I think anyway.  We are grateful for Mike's Ipad and all the great apps the church has for it.  We are grateful for the internet, to be able to do indexing to help move the work along.

We are grateful that the Lord blessed us by softening the hearts of those who could show us the way to find Alexis.  Without the Lord's help, we would still not have been able to lay her earthly body to rest.  We are blessed to share the gospel with so many great and wonderful family members and friends.

We are thankful for this year, 2011, the weddings, baby blessings, family gatherings, and funerals.    We are thankful for our move, for the support of those who helped and that it was done safely, without injury.

As this year comes to an end, we want to thank our family for the love and support they have shown to us, in good times and bad.  We want to thank our friends for being there for us when we asked for help or just wanting to talk.

We can't thank others enough, or show our gratitude for the blessings sent our way for even a small portion... No words can express our gratitude.  Signing off now with a heart full of gratitude and charity for those we know and love.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING 2011

My Sweet Alexis...

September 10, 2011 marks a very bad horrible day...

Alexis went missing... Disappeared off the face of the earth...

No cell phone activity...

Nothing...

Only to find her on day 40 buried in a shallow grave in Morgan County near the banks of the Weber River...

There are no words...

Only an empty sadness...

Seth has really handled this tragic time fairly well.. Very proud of him and how helpful he has been to his mom, by her side, supportive... oh yeah, I forgot ...He is a teenager... so we are not talking perfect,  but nearly you know.....

Our move the 15th of October is nearly over... It was a hard one... I think I say that every time I move... But with the news that Lex was missing... made it even harder.  No concentration ... No drive... No packing early... Just worry... and no sleep...

We need to clean up the backyard and get a few more things from the house... I'd like to get a cleaning crew together the first part of this week so I can get the carpets cleaned on Friday... Cuz Monday is our last day in that house and we still are not done...

So many sent flowers and plants to express their sadness too... So hard to understand this anyway, but harder due to it being our baby girl..

So many people came to the gravesite, far to many to even know who was there.  The media was outside the church in North Ogden, and on the pathway at the cemetery.

Dylan Moore, Kirk's youngest came from AZ.  Glad that Jessica brought him.  A funeral is hard, but not knowing family is supportive makes it harder still.  Healing and understanding can start to happen as he processes  this tragic loss in his young life.  He lost his only sister...

This seems so senseless to me... This kind of death is so wasteful... It makes me sick when I think about it and her lying in a pile of dirt, tossed out like the trash...

Gotta stop for now... My heart is breaking... My body is shaking... Gonna go hide in my bed...

I'm pretty sure I'm suppose to be something else, so much crisis and stress and I'm still standing... What is wrong with me?  Why am I not flat and nonfunctional?  OK... Maybe why isn't the question... but then I'm so blank I can't think of what the question might be...  I'm still so very sad... a sadness I've never experienced before.

We had 2 dozen balloons to send up for the welcome home party she was having with family as we laid her earthly remains safely to rest.  Chris and Addison were there, now we added Lex too... See family... Together... Forever...

What do you think I'm suppose to learn in my life?

Conference Weekend... Delightful

Starting this before conference starts... will add through out the weekend with bits of wisdom and treats from the General Authorities.. The temps are not to cool... mid high 80's...  Grateful for the cooler temps, and very grateful we are not in winter weather either...

As usual I did not get this done...

Seems like my life exploded on me again and I fell into snail mode... moving so slow...

So ya, things kept happening...

Lesson... Be or Do

We had a lesson today in Relief Society and it was really good.  Mike and I had a discussion before church and after church.  Mike taught the High Priest Quorum lesson and I went to the RS lesson....  Out of the May Conference Issue 2 talks were to be used as the lesson.

One was by Elder Lynn G Robbins,
"What Manner of Men and Women Ought Ye to Be?"
pg 103.

This talk had many concepts and issues.  I will quote many parts of this talk, he said it so well, why try to re do what was done well...

"To be and to do are inseparable.  As interdependent doctrines they reinforce and promote each other.  Faith inspires one to pray, for example, and prayer in turn strengthens one's faith."

"The do without the be -HYPOCRISY- portrays a false image to others, while be without do portrays a false image to oneself."

We see this in others, because it's easier to see the speck of dirt in another eye than to see the huge tree sticking out of our own eye.  Or another example Elder Robbins used was the scribes and Pharisees for their hypocrisy: "Woe unto you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites for ye pay tithe - something they did - of mint and anise and cumin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgement, mercy, and faith" (Matthew 23:23).  Or in other words, they failed to be what they should have been."

He used a few other examples to teach us:

  • Entering the waters of baptism is something we do.  The be that must precede it is faith in Jesus Christ and a mighty change of heart.
  •  Partaking of the sacrament is something we doBeing worthy to partake of the sacrament is a weightier and much more important matter.
  •  Ordination to the priesthood is an act, or do.  The weightier matter, however is power in the priesthood, which is based 'upon the principles of righteousness' (D&C 121:36) or be.
Elder Robbins continues with: "Most of us create to do lists to remind us of things we want to accomplish.  But people rarely have to be lists.  Why?  To do's are activities or events that can be checked off the list when done.  To be, however, is never done.  He used an example of taking his wife out to dinner, which is the to do... But being a good husband is not an event, it needs to be part of my nature - my character, or who I am."

I can see these events in my life... and I have never been filled... or satisfied.  Because the void wasn't a void to be filled with an event,  it was a void that I needed to develop in my nature, or the who I am part of the do/be.

Wish I had that tip of wisdom in my life/marriage like 30 yrs ago... HaHa... Things would have less complicated... but I am stubborn and slow to learn and be taught.

I will amend this as I finish putting my thoughts together... So Later...

Changes in our Nest...

It's official.  We have new roommates for the next 8 months while Esmeralda finishes up her MA at Provo College, she should be done by Feb. 2012.  John won't be finished til late summer of 2012.

Al has moved out of state.  He is doing well.  Loves where he is at.  Close to fishing and mountains.  The winters will be cold.  But he will love it.  He has a great roommate who is a good game player.  So, I won't worry about him... Yeah!!  He is pretty healthy right now as long as he stays on his meds.

The new renters are John and his new wife, Es and her 2 little girls.  Kiana is 4 yrs and Kabrie is 7 months.  Kiana is pronounced Key On a  like Anna with an O sound.  Kabrie is pronounced Kay Brie, brie like the cheese.  They has made this house noisy again, but that is fine.

Mike and I are going to help them with daycare cuz they go to school at night.  The little ones are in bed and asleep usually when they get home and they are able to do homework.  They are both looking for jobs, so if you know of any part time in this end of the valley... email them OK.

We love our Ward, Spanish Fields 1st Ward.  Neither of us know the name of our stake.  Which is kinda funny cuz the stake pres lives in our ward.  Guess that is our new goal... learn the name of our stake.

We've had a ton of rain this summer.  It's been an odd year... starting in Dec with the blizzard.  Hopefully this year will be normal for us.  The construction on the freeways have made winter road travel deadly.

Square Foot Gardening

WOW...

For only an 8X4 this plot is rocking.  I need to thank our landlord for allowing me to kill some lawn.  It's not deep... but it's mighty.  We had snow the 1st of June so I bought well developed tomatoes...  about $9 a piece.  Well worth it cuz I'm getting tomatoes... Yeah!!  The beans are bush and very close to each other... Just budding and growing and we are eating and eating.

Neither Mike or I are tired
of fresh green beans yet.
Yum!!

We've gotten a few crooked neck squash ... this is small...

This is the biggest zucchini so far.  I haven't let them grow cuz I don't want 3 feet of BIG zucchini... The radishes went to seed, Al didn't pick them when they were good... He wanted them BIG... haha not in our garden space.  Oh well... it's all good.

This is the one and only bell pepper... and so far no jalapeno's ... they were not so grande when they got planted and I'm thinking they are not getting enough sun... Oh well... some days are winners and some are just whiners...

The beans are close but seem to be having a great time in the sunshine and the rain...

The tomatoes are loaded... they are just wanting to be picked and gobbled... R U Game???

It's not much... but fresh vegies are delightful...

I've gotta run and get those beans snapped and in a pot...

Mike ate all the tomatoes while I was up here blogging...

dah...

guess I will have to peek again to see if any are still out on the vines...

TaTa!!!

EMPTY NESTERS???

Mike and I just realized we are home alone and it's not just for a day or two... John is staying with 'friends' closer to school and Al is out of state.  This is the first time since we were married, 40 years ago, we have no room mates.

I'm going a bit crazy with so much quiet... I'm not complaining about the quiet, just so not used to it... I have had a nap, watched a tv program by myself with the remote... walked to the mailbox, dah... it's so odd...  I take Rusty with me to run errands.  hehehe

We have found, that when we are not stretched so far... we kinda like each other.  It's also been funny to sit and look at each other and wonder what to do next??

Now, we know this is a forever thing, with John still in school and Al not stable in his own place, but for now this is heaven.

We eat simply.  We have so few dishes, I have run the dishwasher 2x this week... not 2x today.  Our fridge is almost empty.  We are slowly going thru the food and stuff.  Our freezers are nearly empty.  Both of us want to get it whittled down and then clean it out before we get new things.  It helps we are putting all our money into bills and rent so we don't have much left over anyway.

We haven't had to run to the store for anything.  Mike is the only one who drinks milk, but I use it to cook.  My yogurt is still ok and our fresh fruits and veggies are soon out... But until Monday, I think we are good to go.

Sigh... if we had money to spare this would be more fun... More like a vacation, but it's not to be right now.  We are trying to get our bills in line to buy a house next June.  With a goal, I'm pretty good to stop the spending.

Well.... so much for this entry.  No pictures... Unless you want to see the little girls of John's girlfriend... hehehe They really are cute, 3 yrs and 6 mos.  and both their names start with a K.
